Sutter Amador Hospital, the only hospital in Amador County, serves a population of over 40,000. As a result of the area's growth, changes in the way health care is delivered and advances in medical diagnosis and treatment, a new hospital was constructed to better serve the community. The new 66-bed facility opened in April, 2000 and includes many services in one easily accessible location.
