In 2006 Amador County experienced an extremely high rate of teen driver deaths. Because of this, a group of local community members, educators, parents and students formed the Amador Teen Driver Council.
Our goal is to lower teen driving related deaths, injuries and accidents in our community by actively informing parents of teen drivers of the responsibilities, risks and rewards of the most dangerous part of their teenager's life - driving.
This website is to be as a reference source for Amador County parents and their teens. In its infancy, it is a set of
locally written articles about teen driving, a list of
links to web resources that we have found useful, and the outline and content of the main focus of our program, which is
a series of mailed newsletters which the parents of every Amador County teenager from age 15 through 18 will receive.
